Duties & Responsibilities

• Developing a flexible Annual Audit Plan using appropriate risk based methodology.
• Implementing the Annual Audit Plan.
• Establishing a system to ensure quality of internal auditing activities and processes are in alignment with the Company’s Strategic plan.
• Conducting Audit reviews of the effectiveness of risk management process and adequacy of internal controls.
• Carrying out risk identification, assessment and audit planning for high risk areas within the operations of the Company.
• Maintaining of the Corporate Risk Register on Strategic risks and Top Ten risks of the Company’s (Board and Top Management levels).
• Designing focused effective strategies for managing risks to customers, assets, reputation and interest of stakeholders.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of Internal Controls and Systems
• Reporting to the Company’s Audit Committee of the Board in regard to Corporate Governance process and making recommendations for improvement on emerging trends and successful practices in Internal Auditing.
• Serving as Secretary to Company’s Audit Committee of the Board
• Managing and overseeing the Unit’s staff training, development and performance evaluation in accordance with the established Performance Management System.
• Coordinating with External Auditors in the Company’s Financial and System Audits.
• Instituting follow up and ensuring implementation of Audit recommendations.
• Carrying out any other duties as may be directed

Job Specification

• A Bachelors Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field..
• A Post graduate degree in a Business related Course shall be an added advantage
• CPA (K) or its acceptable equivalent and either CISA or CFE or CIA Certification.
• Membership of ICPAK and Institute of Internal Auditors.
• A minimum of 12 years’ working experience, 10 of which must be post first degree graduation and 5 years at Senior Management position in auditing and or finance.
• Experience in Enterprise Risk Management.
• Knowledge of Internal Audit Standards, Code of Ethics and other best Practice Auditing and Accounting Standards.
• Working ICT knowledge in accounting systems with proficiency in CAATs
• Strong Financial Management orientation.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, a good communicator with good planning and organizing skills and ability to exercise sound judgment.
• Working ICT knowledge in accounting systems with proficiency in CAATs
• Must be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
