Senior Research Administrator Job Opportunity at Kenyatta University



Job Title: Senior Research Administrator (SRA) - Grade 11
Kenyatta University in collaboration with the University of Nairobi has received an award from National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the initiative on Research and Innovation Management (iRIM). The goal of iRIM is to strengthen research and innovation management by strengthening research processes, training in research, grants and infrastructure development.
To achieve these objectives the University is calling for applications for the position of a Senior Research Administrator who will be based at Kenyatta University Central Research Office.
Duties:
The Research Administrator will be responsible for the following duties:
 Training on research administration
 Coordination of the grant management lifecycle
 Provision of expert support to faculty and students
 Facilitating application process throughout the proposal development, review and submission
 Reviewing of research proposals and assisting in obtaining institutional approvals for proposals
Academic and professional requirements:
 Education - Minimum of a Masters degree in a relevant field
 Certified Public Secretary (CPS) (K)/ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K) will be an added advantage.
Experience/ Skills:
 At least five (5) years professional experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a research field/ organization
 Involvement in project management
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency in relevant packages
Other requirements:
 Good communication, planning and organizational skills
 Ability and willingness to train others
 Ability to critically analyze, and interpret protocols and professional journals

 Apply technical procedures, policies and government regulations
 Knowledge and ability to manage grants
 Ability to liaise with primary stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of funding submissions and donor communication
Terms of Service:
The successful candidate will be offered two (2) year renewable performance based contract and gratuity will be given at the end of the contract.
Those who wish to be considered for Part time teaching in any of the advertised areas may also apply. They should specifically indicate so.

Terms of Service:
The terms of service includes a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance. Successful candidates for post of Lecturer and above will be permanent and pensionable, for post of Tutorial Fellow will be offered one (1) year renewable performance based contract, non - academic posts for Grade 1-10 will be offered two (2) year renewable performance based contract and gratuity will be given at the end of the contract.
